Hi, I’m Pastor Lutzer, and we’re here in Berlin, Germany, standing next to the Stauffenberg Museum, which is dedicated to the resistance against the Nazi regime. Before you enter the museum, you’ll notice a plaque that honors those who died in this square, including Stauffenberg himself. These individuals were part of a courageous movement that attempted to overthrow Hitler.

The plaque reads: “Here, in the former Army High Command, Germans organized the attempt to overthrow the National Socialist dictatorship on July 20, 1944. For this, they sacrificed their lives.” I often say that there are moments when there are things more important than life itself. That’s why we honor these heroes — they were willing to take a stand against an evil regime, even though their efforts ultimately did not succeed.

But thank God they had the courage to sacrifice. They understood that sometimes, you should not sacrifice the eternal for the temporary because it’s the permanent — the eternal — that truly matters. Their willingness to give their lives for a higher cause is a testament to their bravery.

Thank you so much for joining us today. God bless you, and may you have a good day.
