From Willard Barbery in 1950:
It was Mrs. Suiter who showed us the sheepskin, in the Davidson home, formerly used by Bro. Sheffey and made mention of in another place in these writings. That sheepskin was given to Rev. Peter Rayburn Suiter, local preacher in the Methodist church for many years in Bland county and an associate of the itinerant preacher. Bro. Sheffey gave the skin to Mr. Suiter and it in turn has been handed down to the children of Joe Davidson, direct descendants of Suiter. Another of these skins became the property of a Mrs. Yost, near Gratton church, in Tazewell county. Mrs. Suiter also prizes a piece of a door facing taken from an old house in which Rev. J. S. W. Neel and family lived at Cove Creek. On this piece of timber Bro. Sheffey had drawn a number of pictures during one of his periodical visits to the Neel home.
From Brad Scott:
Brother Sheffey’s lamb skin prayer rug. It was donated by Suiter and Joe Davidson to the Bluefield First United Methodist Church in Bluefield, Virginia, where it hangs in a place of honor. [website also includes a photo of the sheepskin]
